Steel produced in Europe leads to CO2 reductions.

Steel recycling helps to avoid emissions of the greenhouse gas CO2 and to save energy and resources. In addition to the recycling cycle, however, steel produced and processed in Europe in particular also leads to CO2 reductions due to the greatly shortened routes.

These savings are not even included in the following examples:

The use of one ton of scrap steel saves the same amount of CO2 emissions through recycling.
In Germany alone, steel recycling avoids more than 20 million tons of CO2 per year.
That is as much CO2 as Berlin releases in a year.
