European climate law enters into force
The political intention of the European "Green Deal" to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 has been enshrined in law since June 24, 2021. Already on April 20, 2021, the European Parliament had informally agreed with the member states on the European Climate Act. On June 24, 2021, the EU Parliament passed the tightening of climate targets by 442 votes to 203 with 51 abstentions. By 2030, greenhouse gases in the community of states are to be reduced by at least 55 percent below 1990 levels, and climate neutrality is to be achieved in the EU by 2050.
